Mỗi khi Apple tung ra một phiên bản mới cho iOS thì người dùng cũng sẽ tìm kiếm một giải pháp để Jailbreak nó nhằm có thể thoát khỏi “gọng kiềm” của “quả táo” để tự do cài đặt các ứng dụng. Thủ thuật sau đây sẽ giúp bạn dễ dàng Jailbreak phiên bản iOS 4.2.1 vừa được Apple cung cấp. Trước khi tiến hành Jailbreak, bạn cần lưu ý các vấn đề sau :
Tether jailbreak: áp dụng cho iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS (BootROM mới), iPod touch 2G (MC Model), iPod touch 3G/4G. Tethered jailbreak là tùy chọn áp dụng cho các thiết bị mới ra mắt gần đây, có nghĩa là nếu bạn khởi động lại thiết bị sau khi jailbreak thành công, bạn cần kết nối thiết bị với máy tính và khởi động nó bằng cách sử dụng RedSn0w.
Untether Jailbreak: áp dụng cho iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS (BootROM cũ), iPod touch 2G (Non-MC). Bạn không cần kết nối thiết bị với máy tính và khởi động nó bằng RedSn0w.
Nếu bạn đã mở khóa mạng thành công cho iOS các phiên bản trước thì bạn không nên jailbreak bởi vì hiện tại chưa thể mở mạng cho iOS 4.2.1.
Sau đây là các bước tiến hành Jailbreak phiên bản iOS 4.2.1 :
- Bước 1 : tiến hành update firmware của iPhone lên phiên bản iOS 4.2.1 thông qua kết nối wifi hoặc tải về cài đặt thủ công từ địa chỉ http://www.trickyways.com/2010/08/download-iphone-firmware-files-iphone-4-3gs-3g-2g. Tiếp đó, tải về tiện ích Redsn0w từ địa chỉhttp://cdn.nspwn.com/redsn0w_win_0.9.6b4.zip
- Bước 2 : Kết nối iPhone với máy tính rồi chạy iTunes và lựa chọn thiết bị của bạn từ cửa sổ bên trái.
- Bước 3 : Giữ phím Shift từ bàn phím và nhấn nút Restore trong cửa sổ vừa hiện ra. Chọn tập tin ipsw chứa iOS 4.2.1 mà bạn đã tải về và nhấn vào nút Open. Sau cùng, ngồi chờ iTunes kết thúc quá trình cập nhật.
- Bước 4 : Giải nén tập tin redsn0w_win_0.9.6b4.zip vừa tải về và chạy tập tin redsn0w.exe để khởi động chương trình Redsn0w.
- Bước 5 : từ giao diện chính của Redsn0w, bạn nhấn nút Browse rồi chọn tập tin ipsw chứa iOS 4.2.1.
- Bước 6 : sau khi quá trình xác định tập tin ipsw thành công, bạn nhấn nút Next để xác nhận.
- Bước 7 : đánh dấu chọn vào ô Install Cydia sau đó nhấn Next để xác nhận.
- Bước 8 : hãy chắc chắn rằng iPhone của bạn đã được cắm vào máy tính và tốt nhất là nên tắt nguồn, nhấn nút Next.
- Bước 9 : bây giờ đặt thiết bị của bạn sẽ được đưa vào chế độ DFU, Redsn0w sẽ hướng dẫn bạn làm điều đó. Bạn cần xem kỹ các bước hướng trên màn hình để đưa điện thoại của bạn vào chế độ DFU. Thường là:
o Nhấn giữ phím Power khoảng 3 giây.
o Thả nút Power rồi nhấn giữ phím Home khoảng 6 giây.
o Thả phím Home sau đó nhấn giữ phím Power và đồng thời nhấn luôn phím Home khoảng 14 giây.
- Bước 10 : Redsn0w sẽ bắt đầu quá trình jailbreak, bạn chỉ cân ngồi chờ cho quá trình này kết thúc và sau đó nhấn nút Finish. Lúc này, iPhone của bạn sẽ tự khởi động lại và bạn có thể tìm thấy biểu tượng Cydia trên màn hình iPhone. Để khởi động lại iPhone theo kiểu Tethered jailbreak, bạn hãy khởi động Redsn0w sau đó đánh dấu chọn vào ô Just boot tethered rignt now rồi nhấn Next để xác nhận.
